The "Prodigy" in
Action in Illinois Over the Weekend...
The Brady Smith Racing team invaded the Land of Lincoln over
the June 20-21 weekend for a pair of high-profile events. Their
weekend kicked off on Friday night, June 20 at the Farmer City
Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois. The UMP Summernationals tour
rolled into Farmer City on Friday and a $10,000 top prize was
up for grabs. Brady, who won this race in 2007, timed in sixth
quickest in his group during qualifying and later ran fifth
in his stout heat race. Unfortunately for the #2 team, Brady's
night ended in the B-Main when he suffered problems and wound
up sixteenth in the consolation race.
The weekend got better for the Solon Springs, Wisconsin-based
Dirt Late Model team on Saturday, as they traveled to the Freeport
Raceway Park in Freeport, Illinois. The World Dirt Racing League
(WDRL) Late Model Series sanctioned a $5,000 to win show at
Freeport on Saturday evening. Brady was fifteenth fastest during
WDRL qualifying and later ran fifth in his heat race to advance
to the 40-lap main event. The driver known as the "Prodigy"
started mid-pack in the A-Main and was able to work his way
by multiple cars en route to a respectable ninth place performance.
