The
"Prodigy" Claims Close Runner-Up Finish in DTWC!
The Brady Smith Racing team trekked south to the refurbished
Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Indiana over the October
17-18 weekend of the 29th Annual 'Dirt Track World Championship.'
The star-studded, crown jewel event drew 71 entrants to the
3/8-mile, high-banked venue, all of whom were gunning for the
hefty $50,000 top prize. In preliminary action on Saturday,
Brady Smith timed in third quickest in his group during qualifying
and later finished a strong second in heat race action.
After rolling off from the outside of the fifth row in Sunday
afternoon's 100-lap feature event, Brady hung around the top
ten early in the race primarily utilizing the topside of the
racetrack. However, in the later stages of the DTWC, Brady started
to work the bottom groove of the speedplant and proceeded to
pick off car after car. With only ten laps remaining, the "Prodigy"
was wheel-to-wheel with race leader Jimmy Mars, but Mars was
able to shut the door and moved down to Brady's preferred low
groove. The Solon Springs, Wisconsin driver was not able to
make the pass for the win, but settled for a strong runner-up
performance in the prestigious 'Dirt Track World Championship.'
